Should Schools be Reopen in COVID-19 Pandemic

 Coronavirus claims 697,955 death all over the world with 18,471,207 get infected. According to the World Health Organisation(WHO), there are 165 vaccines in clinical trials were being developed across the world. There is no fixed date of vaccine launched in the market. 

According to a recent study, it was estimated that children are the major spreaders of COVID-19 as compare to adults. The virus level was much higher in children below the age of 5. The analysis found that the greatest risk of transmission to contact were 14 cases under age 15. Eight of the 14 (age 1-11) infected 11 of 49 contacts. In addition, older children and teens may be strong spreaders. The research found that children acquire COVID-19 from adults, rather than transmitting it to them. 

In New Delhi, there is a peak down in new cases of the virus and also recovery rate is 89.57% only a few cases remain in the city. Also Haryana's recovery rate increases by 81.30%. The Government of  New Delhi decided to reopen the educational institute from mid-August or in September with preventive measures. Educational Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma said that they are mentally prepared to reopen schools and colleges. The conditions are classes will be conducted in open spaces with a minimum of 15 students in attendance, they visualize that the system will be based on ancient gurukul that students living far away also attend. There is two shift for 3-3 hours in a day and only 9-11 will be permitted for attending schools. 

According to Unlock 4.0 guidelines, educational institutes will reopen from September onwards. Mask is mandatory for students, Handsanitizers will put in every class, there will be 3-4 feet gap between desks, Student's name written on his/her desks, Communication between them are prohibited, etc. School staff will take care of these measures. 

In slum areas, students are unable to join online classes conducted by schools, they were forced to work and marriages. This epidemic affects their life and education, they do not have smartphones and high-speed internet connection for online studies. Even some students attempted suicide of not having an internet connection. Until the vaccines arrive in the market it is difficult to say that schools get reopen in the world.
